How to decorate small spaces? This is the most puzzling question we face so often, as in Pakistan, most of us live in small houses.
But here we have compiled some tips from professional on how you can best use available spaces and make most out of it.
Keep the Floor Clear
Whether your rooms are small or big, if they have so many things that you cannot walk freely they would look and feel uncomfortable. And, trust me, the space where you can walk freely feels bigger than it’s actual size.
So, keeping your floor as much clear as possible can be a good start. But, we need beds, sofas, chairs, vase etc in our house! Yes, we do. But if you do not enough space, go for minimal kind of furniture that doesn’t overwhelm a room with their presence.
Most of our houses are built in congested areas where we do not much space for windows or natural light to flow in. And where we have windows, women generally keep them closed as they fill rooms with dust.
These habits or patterns make our rooms feel crowded. So, it’s time to try some change. Leave your windows open and let the sunlight comes in. It will not only make your rooms look spacious but also feel more refreshing as fresh air will clean stagnant atmosphere.
Mirrors can Help
If you’re not blessed with an abundance of natural light, mirrors can help you make the most of what you do have by reflecting it around the room. Mirrors can also help make the space feel bigger, giving the illusion of a few more square feet. Consider lining a wall with a large mirror or creating a gallery wall of different sizes and shapes.
Choose cover colors wisely
Bed sheets are necessary, but majority of our women prefer to keep sofas and chair in covers also. This may save some hassle of cleaning a fancy cloth surface after some someone drops tea on it. At the same time, we also need to understand that sometimes we have to sacrifice covers.
Colorful sofa or chair covers make a room busier and crowded, specially if you have big flower pattern on them. So, choose plain covers with soft colors or if you like flowers, keep their pattern small.
Choose a better Rug
A rug is the one item you definitely don’t want to skimp on, size-wise. A tiny rug will make the room feel equally small. Pick a floor covering that’s large enough so most of the furniture will sit on it, or go wall-to-wall.
